Ovidiu Cheabac – The Pizza Chef, from Romania, left his home country to study Advanced Innovative Pizzeria Technique in Italy in 2003 before becoming a chef at a Rimini restaurant.

Since then he has had his abilities recognised with a range of international awards, including Pizza Chef of the Year at the 2015 International Alternative Pizza Championship.

Now he is bringing his talents and passion for quality pizza to Kent.

Along with Constantin ‘Nic’ Nicolau, Ovidiu is touring Sevenoaks and the surrounding area in their ‘Red Pizza Van’.

Nic said that he and Ovidiu want to bring authentic, stone-baked pizza to smaller towns in and around the UK.

He said: “Ovidiu visited Sevenoaks a year ago and fell in love with the place and the kindness of people.

“That is why we love making good pizza in Sevenoaks.”

From December onwards, Ovidiu will be introducing a new gourmet menu and Sevenoaks pizza aficionados will be among the first who get to sample what it offers.

Ovidiu, who hopes to one day open a pizza school in Romania to train other would-be chefs, has previously been selected to be a jury member in international cuisine contests.

Since becoming a fully trained chef, he has also schooled Italians in the art of making the perfect pizza and is a member of culinary academies such as Escoffier in France, Aceea Association based in Romania and Italy’s Professional Pizzaiolo Association.
